It’s actually hard to classify the decision they made because you can’t really leave your family. From his troubled relationship with Diana to the affair he had with his current wife, their history has been fraught with drama.
Although the news of Prince Harry and Meghan leaving was hard to fathom, they certainly aren’t the only couple in the monarchy to experience trials and tribulations. Nevertheless, people want to know why Prince Harry chose to let go of his title as the Duke of Sussex. In fact, interest has accelerated since the announcement was made in January. What’s fascinating is that the change became official in just a few months.

Although they did not provide many details, you could sort of read between the lines by tracing different events that had previously occurred. For instance, it became crystal clear that Harry and his brother, Prince William, were not on the best of terms. That in itself is something that can put a lot of stress on a couple. If you have siblings, you know that strife in the family can be emotionally draining.

Leaving the royal family means they will no longer participate in royal activities. It also means that they will no longer be able to use their HRH titles, which seemed to be an issue for a while because they were initially using their titles on social media. HRH stands for ‘His Royal Highness’ or ‘Her Royal Highness,’ which would have been difficult for some people to lose.

Specifically, Harry spoke about the mental health challenges that he has battled every since Princess Diana’s death. He spoke about how it’s an issue that he has dealt with for years and how the struggle of losing his mother has been difficult since childhood. Attendees at the event said Harry spoke about going to therapy for years and how constant issues with the British press made life challenging. Harry indicated that he did not want his son Archie and wife Meghan to experience the same kind of issues that he faced with the press.
Despite the many criticisms of Harry and Meghan, nobody can deny that Harry wanting to take care of his family is noble. Nobody truly understands the challenges they face on a daily basis, besides those that have been in the same position. Given the unique nature of their relationship, there probably isn’t anyone that can completely understand why they made the decision to leave. While it was very difficult for Harry to depart, it’s been said that he does not regret the decision. In February 2020, Harry and Meghan lived in Canada. They are currently living in the United States, specifically in Los Angeles. Despite all that has been said and all of the speculation, only Harry and Meghan know their true intentions.
More than likely, Harry and Meghan will continue to support causes related to environmental advocacy and other issues that are near and dear to them. Rest assured that no matter what they do, the media will be there with cameras waiting.
